Normally, nationals of countries outside the EU/EEA must apply for a residence permit for work purposes in Norway. In some cases, you do not need a residence permit if you plan to work in Norway for less than three months.

From 18 April 2024, the requirement that you cannot have received financial assistance under the Social Services Act is lifted. You are still required to have your own income.

If you have been convicted or fined by the police or if you are under investigation for a criminal offence, you have to wait longer to be granted a permanent residence permit in Norway.
